Health week commenced on Monday, 13th July to Friday, 17th July. During this period members participated in activities that would help improve and sustain a healthy lifestyle.
Blood pressure & BMI Checks- Members were able to have their blood pressure and BMI checked.
Healthy Eating- This session included a presentation on food portions and how many calories men and women should eat on a daily basis.
Food swaps- Members were able to share recipes that would encourage members to eat healthily.
Focus on men’s and women’s health- This session involved watching videos about breast and testicular cancer in individual groups.
Keeping active- Members were able to get involved in exercise routine that would help them have a balanced lifestyle.
Here are 8 tips to healthy eating:
1. Base your meals on healthy eating.
2. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables.
3. Eat more fish.
4. Cut down on saturated fat & sugar.
5. Try to eat less salt, no more than 6g.
6. Get active and try to be a healthy weight.
7. Drink plenty of water.
8. Don’t skip breakfast!
