The Managing Director of Aspire, Keith Edmondson, and a number of friends and aquaintances recently undertook a sponsored motorcylcle ride to raise funds for a specialist piece of equipment for Aspire’s Health Gym. This is a MOTOmed, which enables people in wheelchairs to underake a full range of exercises, to improve their strength, stamina, range of meovements and all round wellbeing.
The 12-day expedition started at Heathrow, flying to Abu Dhabi and then on to Kochi where the team and their guide met and began their motorbike ride. They travelled south of India through Munnar, Teni and Idukki, Kodaikkanal, Palani, Dindigul Palladam, Otty, Shoranur and visited several coastal areas. The 12 day journey took them through lush green forests, mountains and valleys.
They were deeply impressed by this incredibly beautiful and friendly country. Over the 12 days they covered over 1400 kilometres, at times experiencing extreme heat and gratefully stopping periodically for traditional Indian tea and photos!
The event was succesful in raising the necessary funds and the MOTOmed equipment is now on order and will soon be installed in Aspire’s Health Gym.
